Resident Rights:

To live in a comfortable and safe environment.

To be treated with courtesy and respect in a way that fully recognizes dignity and individuality.

To be informed who is responsible for and who provides direct care.

To be afforded privacy in treatment and caring for personal needs.

To furnish and displace personal possessions, pictures and furnishings in keeping with safety requirements and other resident’s rights.

To be informed of medical conditions and proposed course of treatment.

To give or refuse consent for care or treatment (including medications and restraints) in accordance with the law and to be informed of the consequences of giving or refusing consent.

To be provided the opportunity to participate in the decisions regarding all aspects of care.

To have medical records kept confidential.

To receive visitors of your choice in privacy.

To raise concerns or recommend changes on behalf of yourself or others.

To be offered assistance to pursue social, cultural, religious and other interests.

Resident Responsibilities:

To respect and follow the Policies and Procedures of Haven Hill Retirement Centre.

To follow the care/ treatment plan the resident has agreed upon.

To respect the rights and privacy of other residents and to treat them with courtesy and consideration.

To treat the health care team of Haven Hill Retirement Centre with respect, courtesy, and
consideration.

To provide the healthcare team with all pertinent information.

To assist in the “responsible” use of healthcare dollars.
