Philosophy of Care

Haven Hill Retirement Centre is dedicated to the provision of quality health care for the chronically ill, aged, and infirm, in a safe health care environment which has as many homelike features as possible incorporated within its framework.

The care provided shall be based on the health care needs of the community served, and trends in the delivery of long term care.

The care shall be holistic and encompassing of the family.

We therefore:

Believe in the dignity of the human person, recognizing that each person has physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs and rights and that these needs and rights must be respected.

Strive to ensure that the health care provided shall be based on the specific needs of the individual resident as assessed by the health care team. This encompasses the resident, the resident’s family and all members of the health care team who are directly involved in providing holistic care to the resident.

Believe that quality of care for our residents is achieved through continuing education for staff and realistic expectations of all staff directly involved.

Shall establish and maintain Haven Hill Retirement Centre for the care of persons suffering from chronic illness or disability which require that those persons receive long term care.

Provide assistance for activities of daily living to those who require it.

Are aware of the changing health needs of the community and the need to assess the facility’s capabilities for response.

Shall ensure that the services provided by the facility meet Ministry of health standards.

Shall determine that admission to this facility shall be based on the need for the type of care provided here, that the environment and availability of accommodations is the most appropriate for the resident. Type of care is determined by qualifications of the staff and personnel, facilities, and equipment needed to carry out services.

Shall encourage our residents to be active socially through participation In community events, by involving the community as active participants in the programs of Haven Hill Retirement Centre through individual volunteer efforts and organized group programs, in order to establish a significant number of 1:1 relationships and to provide a variety of activities for the residents.
